Taiwan Kids friendly Accommodation with slides - not your usual list!

And so from a mere idea of bringing Sticky Bean with us to Taiwan, this idea was put into action with Singapore Airlines 70th Anniversary promotion where you get to pay only $70 for a child's ticket! Though it's not exactly the cheapest option for flying to Taiwan, we thought to pay a little more for better service and not to mention safety since it will be Sticky Bean's first time traveling on a relatively longer flight. Her first plane ride was a really short one to KL, a mere 1 hour away.

If she's manageable on the flight, we can then consider budget airlines such as Scoot or even Jetstar for our subsequent travels.

So why Taiwan?
There are plenty of reasons for our choice other than both Mr. Keir and myself love Taiwan for the food and hospitality. I'm sure you may have come across Awesome kids friendly accommodation with slides and other themed rooms in Taiwan that are trending in facebook. That was one of the many reasons why we want to go Taiwan too!

Alright back to the topic, ever since we've booked our flight to Taiwan for our trip in early May 2017, I've been doing tons and tons of research on kids friendly accommodation with slides in Taiwan. This will then determine the places we'd like to visit in Taiwan.

While doing that, I realise that plenty of kids friendly accommodation with slides in Taiwan clusters in areas such as Yilan and Tainan for some reasons. So again, I spent weeks (no joke on this) googling and researching on kids friendly accommodation with slides in other parts of Taiwan as well especially in Taipei. And well, I found out then if you google in English, you get almost similar results with a few popular bloggers recommending a similar list of kids friendly accommodation with slides and such list definitely include kids friendly accommodation or minsu with slides such as Song Minsu in Yilan, Deely House in Tainan and Red Dot in Taizhong. And so I tried to google and do my research in Chinese instead, using terms like Taiwan Kids Friendly Accommodation with slides (台湾亲子溜滑梯住宿) and Voila! I get tons and tons of results! Woohoo....

So I've shortlisted some of the not your usual list kids friendly accommodation with slides in Taiwan. I've only selected and booked one of the kids friendly accommodation with slides in Yilan, Taiwan for our stay as we would really like to spend more time in Taipei instead. But I'm really happy with our choice of kids friendly accommodation with slides in Yilan, Taiwan as it's a blessing in disguise! You'll find out why later on.

Yilan
I'll do a post on Yilan accommodation first since that's one of the places that we will be visiting and a follow-up post on other parts of Taiwan later on

Song Minsu

This was my first choice initially and it's for a family of 3, perfect for us. Love the room! Location wise, it seems to be pretty close to a farm as well. However, our personal guide did highlight that it is still a driving distance away from any attractions and especially a distance from Luodong night market. This is one of the most popular kids friendly accommodation with slides in Taiwan and a lot of locals will drive to Taipei for a weekend getaway or staycation so do book your accommodation with them as early as possible. Unfortunately, the room of our choice (above) was not available on the date of our stay so I've to look out for alternatives. Was a tad disappointed initially but not anymore as I've found another kids-friendly accommodation with slide in Yilan, Taiwan which suits us even better!

Room rate for this room
Sat SGD183 (NT4000)
Sun SGD 165 (NT3600) Weekdays SGD148 (NT3200)

This was our second choice but again, the room wasn't only available for one night when we needed 2 consecutive nights.

Room rates:
Sat SGD209 NT4600
Sun SGD 191 NT4,200

For bigger families of 4-6 you can check out their other kids friendly accommodation with slide room!
This room looks awesome! In fact, this room was available for 1 of the nights of our stay but it's not worth paying the price for just 3 of us hence we did not proceed with this.
Having said that, we will definitely explore staying here for our next trip to Taiwan!

Miffy Baby 罗东夜市亲子滑梯乐园

OMG! This was a blessing in disguise for us! Just when I was so disappointed that Song Minsu is not available, I went through all the Chinese websites and reviews and found this New Kids friendly accommodation with slide in Yilan, Taiwan! Barely opened for a year.
Best of all it is located within 5 min walking distance to Luodong Night Market. How cool is that!!! That was one of Mr. Keir's criteria. He would prefer an accommodation with easy access to food and convenient stores just in case we get hungry at night or if we need to get essential items. And most of the kids friendly accommodation with slides in Yilan area far from town, more in the rural area and probably can get a tad too boring at night so this was PERFECT for us!!

Personally, I love the girls themed Hello Kitty and Minnie Mouse room but it's a pity that the girls themed rooms don't come with a ball pit. So Sticky Bean chose the car themed room instead cos she say ' got ball pit' lol

The only downside of this place is that the bathroom doesn't come with a bath tub, one of my usual pre-requisite for travel accommodation. But since it's a kids-friendly accommodation with slide and at an ideal location which is super rare, I can forget the bathtub for once.

Ilan Homestay

Another of my many choices for kids friendly accommodation with slides in Yilan. Simple room, affordable with a simple slide and play kitchen in the room and a balcony The room seems a little small, though.

Kids Hostel 儿童王国亲子民宿

I pretty like this too but initially, we planned to visit Yilan on a weekend so the price of rooms for weekends are way above our budget so I didn't shortlist this place. Would love to stay here as one of our kids friendly accommodation with slides in Yilan, Taiwan choices if we return again!

Sat SGD229
Sun SGD192 (weekdays)

Looking at the choices of kids friendly accommodation in Yilan or Taiwan and you will be hoping to be able to stay here throughout your stay but chances are a maximum of 2 nights will suffice cos there's really nothing much to do there, isn't it hard to decide which kids friendly accommodation with a slide  in Yilan, Taiwan?

Even now as I write this post, I'm actually having 2nd thoughts about my choice. So tempted to go for the prettier looking kids friendly accommodation with slides nestled amidst lush greenery!
But I've got to remind myself about Mr Keir's requirements so let's make do with our choice for now...=p.

8 Day 7 Night Kaohsiung Kids Friendly Iitnerary (Taiwan)

Finally, we embarked on an exploration trip to the Southern part of Taiwan. Having heard so much about E-Da World in Kaohsiung, we decided to take a direct flight just to explore Kaohsiung. Initially, we'd wanted to do a Kaohsiung-Tainan trip but decided to skip Tainan this time around and did a Kaohsiung-Nantou trip instead. We had so much fun and would highly recommend a visit to Kaohsiung to any families travelling with kids. In fact, we find Kaohsiung a lot more child-friendly than Taipei. It is also less crowded so it makes it less claustrophobic taking public transport in Kaohsiung as opposed to Taipei. The people there are also a lot friendlier and helpful. This time around, my mum joined us as well and Sticky Bean was ecstatic as she gets to spend quality time with her Popo. Here's a preview of our 8 Days 7 Night Kaohsiung Kids Friendly Itinerary (Taiwan) . You can click on the respective days for a detailed post. The link will be up once it's ready...

BTO Keys Collection and BTO Door Opening Ceremony

And so after a long 4 years wait, our BTO is finally ready for keys collection. To be honest we totally forgot about out BTO and was pleasantly surprised to receive an SMS from HDB to inform us of our BTO keys collection date. That was when we frantically tried to hunt for an ID. Ok to cut the story short, here's what happened on the BTO keys collection day as well as what we did for our "BTO Door Opening Ceremony". There really wasn't an official BTO door opening ritual or ceremony in fengshui. I guess this is just a Singapore custom. Though we do not have a religion, in particular, we just did it for an ease of mind. Love the  living room view from our 30th storey BTO view from our Service Yard BTO Key Collection Process at HDB Time took: less than an hour It was a very straightforward and easy process. Here's what you need to prepare, assuming that you are taking the loan from HDB. Identity cards Marriage certificate if you are buying...
