Selection of our Pre-Wedding Photos

Finally, the photos are ready for selection!
Initially Mr. Keir and I were pretty firm on not topping up for any additional photos.
We're entitled to 36 poses and 25 pages after all. So we thought these should suffice ain't it.

Anyway, nothing new to most of us here that usually the bridal studio will be pushing couples to top up more photos etc and also by saying from an artistic point of view, it's nicer to have a series of photo rather then randomly select photos that doesn't form a story line or something.

To be honest, how many people will really appreciate your album from the so-called "Artistic" point of view leh?

Anyway we have to agree it's indeed nicer to have photos of similar poses and style on the same facing page else it'd look pretty cluttered. and if we were to stick to the 36 poses, the album looks kind of empty and a bit pathetic like that...not so nice.

The good thing is, our coordinator is still pretty ok, he did try to push for us to take more photos but he ain't the irritating, super aggressive kind. So in the end, we top up another $1088 with the following:

Total of 56 poses printed
Additional 10 soft copies so = 66 poses

partly also cos we saw how his face changes when he saw us eliminating so many photos (we really do not like the indoor shots taken)..ahah..but still he continued to try to smile and joke without showing any attitude.

Yaya, we're aware that usually after the wedding, the album will be collecting dust somewhere else. But since we've paid this additional amount for the photos and that the memories are definitely worth keeping, I'd thought this amount is still reasonable la..

I'll make full use of the photos by printing them out and creating a photo wall in our bedroom too!

Oh also I had the impression that photos selection will be via laptop or something, I've no idea they will print out all 200 over shots for you to choose man.

there! all arranged in the so-called series for us liaoz...

Nor! the front 2 were some of the indoor shots. Our indoor shots weren't exactly nicely taken and the one with my traditional bridal gown was taken against a BROWN background. Spoil the whole look and style also loh. But the photographer managed to capture our outdoor shots in candid style pretty well though.

That's kind of a unique shot but not very flattering...The photographer ain't sensitive enough to analyse the flattering part or angle of a woman's body you see. Ya i know can photo shop but there's always a limitation with photoshop too ain't it. The first look at a pic if you feel u look fat in it, chances are you won't like the photo right? Wahahha....

haha the APPLE TREE series! this was the result of a misconception from the photographer. Initially we're telling him of the concept with the apple like me ish snow white, ate the apple and slept then Mr. Keir is my prince etc. But somehow it became an Apple Tree story....*fainted*
But this is quite unique also...but uhm..i don't think we shortlisted this either..maybe took 1 or 2 as soft copies.

somehow the pic of us like praying or something reminds me of "Precious Moments" figurines...
oh please pardon the blurry images i was trying to take pics secretly you see. I don't think we're allowed to snap pics of those photos...ahah.. If they allow you to snap then you won't be buying additional photos liaoz right?

Anyway, here's a series of photos - which we've chosen most of it. These were the RAW - unedited shots that i've took secretly. So please try not to scrutinize on my fats and tummy and whatever ya...just a sneak preview for you guys.

- Taken at Portsdown road
See! the outdoor shots were so much better than the indoors' right? We both love the greenery in this pic!

- Taken at Colbar Portsdown
Very vintage place and brings out a very special feel in photos.

- Taken at Haji Lane
Photographer suggested this place. Didn't know they have so many interesting & colourful background perfect for wedding photography!

 - Taken @ Haji Lane
another of my favorite shot. hee..Love the colourful wall graffiti behind and my expression in the photo too...

and finally....the only indoor shots series we like!

our very own idea and theme..heee...

Ok la, after browsing through these photos again and again, i realized that these snapshots were just some of the ones we've shortlisted.

Will share more once our photos area ready for collection. Think the pics there will be much nicer also..ahaha....

Furniture for the Master Bedroom

Having left with a mere 3 months to our big day and that we would like to settle the room first before focusing on the rest of the wedding plans, we spent most of the weekends shopping for furniture.

After a few rounds of visit to Ikea, the furniture mall, Balestier, Defu Furniture, Courts, Nova furnishing, Brighton, Novena...bla bla bla
We finally made some purchases and more or less settled for some other items.
Gona go purchase the rest of them this weekend.

The Prelude: before we start shopping around for the furniture, i chanced upon the below Victorian set at a reasonable price of $2k plus.

Simply gives the Oomph feel! But since our bedroom theme is white and red, this colour will be a tad off. They have it in white colour too just that the wardrobe is way too small as well.
So after some consideration, we decided to shelf off this option totally.

We kind of decided to have a storage bed instead (as above). Since the bed takes up most space in your room. Imagine how much more space you get if you get to store items below your bed!
As I told Mr. Keir, space is something which nobody will "hiam" of having loh. Never ever a regret.

Have you ever heard of anyone complain that they have too much space? NO RIGHT?? lolx..

So here comes our hunt for the right furniture for our white/red bedroom.
Initially we kind of shortlisted the below white bedroom set we saw at Nova.

I love this dressing table. It's so sleek plus you can slide open the mirror and keep all your skincare on the shelving inside. Very well hidden and neat.
Downside of it, think the quality and mechanism ain't very good. Especially, the drawer. If you realize. there isn't a handle for you to pull open the drawer. It uses the 'press' kinda mechanism so you're supposed to press it once then the drawer will "tiak" opened. We tried closing a few times and it has problem "tiak-ing" back..
Since this is part of the bedroom set that costs $2399 before GST (comes with bedframe, wardrobe, dressing table, bed side table)
The dressing table alone costs $700+..definitely not worth it for this kind of quality.

Here's the matching wardrobe of 5.5 feet. Size wise, just nice. However as with the same problem above, the mechanism ain't very good. After trying to slide open couple of times the door got stuck! Doinkz.
So....we kind of reckon the 'aunties myth' of a open door wardrobe being more lasting than a sliding door wardrobe seemed so true suddenly.

So we decided to KIV the above set and pop by Ikea.

This wardrobe look so nice! with the branch decor on the door it gives it an extra feel. Size wise is just nice too. But it costs $1.6k+. After asking for feedback from friends and relatives, most still find that Ikea's stuff ain't that good for heavy duty use.
So we probably will give it a miss.

I like this too! L shaped wardrobe really make use of the corner space. However you'll need to build 3 2-door wardrobe to form a decent L-shaped wardrobe and that will cost about 2k..hmm...furthermore we discovered that the corner shelving actually didn't contribute much space loh..

So we've kind of narrowed down our choices to one of a open door white wardrobe which I didn't managed to take a picture. Probably popping by to get it this weekend so will post a pic later ya.

The BeD

Woohoo our love - the platform bed! They come in full red colour too. Looking absolutely cosy la to nua in bed watching TV as well. Moreover, Defu furniture is having a moving out sale so they're selling this platform bed below $1k!
I really wanted to get this for the moment. So we took the measurements and went back to see how it can blend with our layout plan
Very disappointingly, it doesn't fit into our humble bedroom. it's just too big and bulky and if i take the platform bed, it simply means my dressing table has to go as well as the additional storage coming from a storage bed frame.

So the platform bed is out as well. Eventually this is what we've got.

Yeah exactly the same thing except for the colour. And i mean mattress included too.
Went to this wholesale centre & manufacturer called AAfrenz. And i really do think they could be the manufacturer of the bed frames cos they can customise and draw out the bed frame you want exactly. You can basically change whatever material or part that you want.

Anyhow we got the above storage bedframe but in red colour with the swaroski crystals headboard.

Tadah! Plenty of storage space too.
Got the mattress from them as well. Not a common brand in retail. it's called Chiro pedic. But heard that it's a more well known brand in hospitals? As in hospital recommending patients with back problems to get this mattress.

It has a cashmere top layer to give you the uber soft comfy feeling and some natural latex so that it will not be too warm.

The mattress itself costs $1.5k, pretty comfy and hopefully worth the price ba.

Another item bought: the TV Console

By far we've only bought the bed and the above TV console. Yes TV console is from ikea. It may look a little filmsy but we can mount it to the wall so the whole rack is actually pretty stable.
Best of all it costs only $129. BUT........
We paid and additional $80 for delivery and installation. Ya we know that's expensive but if you add it up it's only $208 for a pretty decent looking TV console.

Best of all, it blended perfectly against our red wall and colour theme.

Light for our Bedroom

To shop for a suitable light for our red / white themed contemporary bedroom, we went to the infamous Balestier of course!

It's like a must go if you're shopping for lights since it's a whole street filled with nothing but lights stores ahaha..
Though disappointing, most of the designs we've seen there across the shops are pretty similar & not much of a difference in price too.

I would love to have a chandelier lighting in our room but since we're no longer doing the red and black theme for the room, a chandelier lighting may not be so suitable. Furthermore the ceiling's not high enough to have a nice chandelier light..

and then..we chanced upon the Nova Furniture at Paya Lebar Road, A-Z building. Didn't know they had lights as well. They are also having a moving out clearance sale and so..the deal is on!!

Tadah! Light for our bedroom has been decided and fixed. For a mere $150 including installation and removal of the old light.

They can arrange for delivery and installation the next working day and timing wise very accurate.
Fix 10am means 10am zhun zhun come!
Good service!

Just that we need to repaint the ceiling a little.
The design blends in totally with our red/white contemporary style neh!

Another good buy both of us were satisfied with!

How to plan the layout of your bedroom

We've been busy shopping around for furniture and ideas for our bedroom so have been neglecting all the blog updates.

At the same time, kind of feeling the pressure since it's a mere 3 months to our wedding and other then the room preparations, nothing else has been done or planned yet for our wedding...*oopz*

anyway just thought how we planned for the room layout was pretty cute. Haha...being also a virgo, Mr. Keir has been pretty organised and have most things well-planned we had this ingenious idea of drawing out our own "blue print" for the room..

Actually Mr. Keir started it, he drew out a general map of our room and this is his version.

a male's version of a map, with ruler, straight lines and precise..

So me decided to have my own detailed version, with close up on the furniture as well as window dimensions

Waha...the difference between a male's map and a female's. Ok maybe it's just me..lazy to use ruler la..
But hey actually mapping out difference layouts and designs of the room can be really helpful in thinking of your room's layout as well as the dimension that you can take.

But sometimes, it's really hard to visual especially if the map is not drawn to scale.
So we had another ingenious idea again!

We used masking tapes and measure the actual dimensions of the furniture we've shortlisted to see if it fits into our room's layout! much easier to visualize ain't it?

So after a period of contemplating between a platform bed or a storage bed frame, we'd finally decided to give up on the platform bed frame.

Although it's really nice and sensual but it takes up a hell lot of space. having a platform bed also means we need to use a sliding door wardrobe which both of us believe that the mechanism may not be as lasting as a open-door wardrobe. (given my roughness & clumsiness especially)

Our Master Bedroom Basic Reno

Finally did a mini reno for the master bedroom.
We're not looking at a major makeover nor splurging on an ID for the room as it doesn't make economical sense. Moreover we ain't sure how long would we be staying there

here comes.
Not easy getting a contractor willing to do a small job just for the room

1) Removal/ hacking of built in wardrobe
2) polishing and re varnishing of parquet flooring
3) Repainting of the room
4) Painting of 2 room's doors

Total Damage: $950 + $80 for bangala to throw de debris away...
Kaoz..smelly smelly also $1k loh...haiz......Talk about the high expenses related to wedding matters..

Let's take a look at the Before & After...

Big difference right? After paying $1k for this room, it better look different from the original room loh.
The workmanship's not too bad actually. There're no signs of damage or residue after the built in wardrobe has been removed.

The flooring's the part we felt it was the most worth! it looked as good as brand new can!! woohooo..$$ well spent we hope...
There's also when i finally realize the beauty of parquet flooring / marble flooring. Cos it can be polished and it does wonder to give your flooring a whole new look! As good as new!

I love stark contrast and the colour Red for a bedroom. Especially for our master bedroom as red exudes sensuality and passion. Especially good in a relationship.
My ideal wall colours would be black with red walls but it'll make the room appear way too dark. Also if we have all 4 walls painted red, it'll make the room appear dark too.

So we had only one side of the wall painted red to give the room a little "3D effect". And the rest white with a very soft shade of pink.
It brighten up the room almost instantly!

This will be where our bed's headerboard will be at too. against the red wall.
And of cos this is still incomplete, we'll spruce up the walls with pretty wall murals / decors too.
After selecting and placing the furniture that is.

The window's grille damn obiang though..but i guess with pretty curtains covering it, it shouldn't be much of an issue. Trying to cut cost wherever possible.

By right the cheapest method would be for us to DIY paint the room ourselves. But the difference is probably only about $300 or so and you still need to buy the paint on your own.
So reckon it's more practical to have them do it once and for all?
ok la..We Are lazy la..much as we like to save some $$ hehez...

Here are some examples of the wall decals / decor we wana incorporate in our room too..

Though it ain't exactly my ideal design (red and Black theme)  like this;

(lol this one too over already, just for illustration purpose..muaha)

but I do like the red part the most. and with enough wall decors, i supposed the room will appear more lively.

Just that it's kind of challenging choosing the right kind of furniture now. Initially, it was easy, just stick to black and red for contrast.
But now it seemed more like a red, white and black concept..hmm..Tricky!!

Off the head we both love a little bit of the zen style as we both love platform beds too!
Just some ideas;

i absolutely heart this!!!

Film Reel Canister for our Cinematic Theme!

Look what I've got!

Film reels + canister as additional decor to bring out our Cinematic night!

ain't easy to get stuffs like this i supposed and they are the Real Original films!
gosh is each huge reel heavy so I have the films cut into smaller pieces and roll as above...

Wanted to bring back more of the canisters but they are so huge and bulky i reckon we can make do with just 4 of them right?

The To-Do List

Just when we thought we can relax abit after our photoshoot, I've realized that we've just 4 months left to our wedding and there're tons of things that are not done at all.

Just like how we reply to people's question of "how's the prep for your wedding" with a "great! nothing's been done yet."

Nonono.. being a themed wedding and wanting it to be different, it's time we start working on the little items.
(I hope Mr. Keir reads this post)

I know the past week has been focused on the room reno. So it's time to to shop for furniture as well as look at the nitty gritties for our wedding prep once again.

I foresee quite a number of DIY projects since we wanted our wedding to be a little different from the norm by having a theme to it. but with it, i'll need couple of help especially in photoshop.
Haiz kind of having 2nd thoughts right now...

Also still having 2nd thoughts over our venue! but well it's all too late now so let's just make the best out of everything ba.

To do list
1) Guest List (yes Mr Keir we have not even came out with a proper guest list of the list of names we'll be inviting..- i've done mine you know who's not doing the job ya..)
2) Meet up with Venue Manager  to site recce again, hopefully with some of my jie meis helping with coordination so we can see how we can decor the place. The venue looks really plain loh...
3) Collect the blank invites from Venue and start sourcing for printers
4) Start designing anor set of invites (but gotta wait for photoshoot photos to be out leh)
5) List down list of items / decors to DIY or to prepare and start sourcing!
6) Wedding favours - even though the venue provides but i thought it's better for us to customise
7) Reconfirm on jie meis rsvp & start sourcing for their dresses!
8) Groom's men..this one duno him, let him settle himself, maybe just choose a colour theme so that it complements the jie meis
9) Wedding Band - yes haven't buy yet.

I think among all, the Guest list is very important and I don't wish to be so naggy about it loh...Grrr..

Bridzella is possessing me soon!

Where to get a Tux for the Groom?

Reckon that's what every groom needs.
and since it's gona be worn only twice - unless your groom has tons of formal functions to attend, we do not want to pay so much for his tuxedo shirt.

As we're the Budget & Practical couple - recap: he spent $20 on his shoes (Moda Paolo) and me spent $30+ on my bridal heels from TANGS Studio (70% discount)
In a place like Singapore, it's GSS all year round la. So there're plenty of good buys out there if you have the time to search and shop for it.
Cheap buys may not necessary equates to low quality products.

So for his Tuxedo shirt, I've browsed tons and tons of forums and realized that Tailor-make seemed a popular choice among the gentlemen.
Since the price is probably around the same or even Cheaper than the off the racks shirt you get from our G2000, Rhaoul etc.

We've decided to try this popular, highly raved tailor/ seamstress located at Genting Lane, since it's relatively near us.

Guan Hua Warehouse
85 Genting Lane
Tel: 6741 3012

Look for Auntie Jenny, they're very much like a factory with a team of seamstress and they are open on Saturdays too!

Just that it's really crowded on a Saturday we waited for like more than 45mins loh.

Here's his white tuxedo shirt. You can customize the type of collar, sleeves you want too and it costs us  $75 only. Cheaper than what you get outside right?

Here's another black shirt with cufflinks Mr. Keir tailor-made. The material is soft and super comfy that he's gona wear it for work too.
Best of all this one cost $35 only! and it's tailor made, we chose some fabric design for the collar and sleeves.

Didn't get to take a picture of Mr. Keir in the shirts alone though.

So Auntie Jenny is definitely value for money.
Highly recommend others to tailor-make not just your tux, even for your working clothes there too!

Will you be my Bridesmaid Card?

Though these days we'd ask face to face or via an sms but i thought the idea of having a "Would you be my Bridesmaid card" is kinda cute.

These days we seldom do snail mails and especially that we may not meet up as often, i'd thought of sending a digitized version to represent my sincerity hehez..

Surfed online and found a few graphics that I like and can be used.

Here are some of the shortlisted ones.

simple and straight to the point. This template is available FOC online too. You can just download and print.

Card can be purchased:
Ahah this is my Favorite! and i very much wanted to use this initially.

simple sweet pink design..

But in the end I thought in order to make it more personalized, i decided to go the lazy way, incorporating couple of my pictures and to use this to be sent out via email / sms or whatsapp virtually.

thought of using this negative frame to make it a little more "cinematic".
Ya ya the really lazy way out..lolx...

For more "will you be my bridesmaid" card, just google for it and you'll have tons and tons of choices!
Reckon it ain't a popular product used in Singapore though.

i'm abit of a lazy, budget, Practical bride hence thinking if i were to DIY a physical card, firstly i've to trouble them to meet me to pass to them personally or mail to them and after which it might be thrown away also leh!

We're in the digital world let's save the earth! wahahha...
I've very much wanted to photoshop the Movie "Bridesmaid" poster as my invite instead....but there're just too many happenings lately with the photoshoot and our room yea..just make do with this...=p

i'm sure my lovely bridesmaid wouldn't mind!

Sneak Peeks: Candid shots of our Pre-wedding Photoshoot!

Finally, it's the day of our pre-wedding photoshoot!
Despite that we're not 100% prepared with the props and stuffs we wana use, despite the fact that i was disappointed over not being able to shoot at IKEA, despite that we've to rush through all the preps and getting his shirts done in time etc, despite that weather's been rainy and gloomy lately, we'd decided to Expect the Unexpected and go with the flow!

Mr Keir says more importantly, both of us must enjoy and be happy~!

And he was so right! We went with an open mind and I chucked my disappointments and stress aside.
We'd such a fun, happy day!

We're also so proud of ourselves that everything went on so smoothly and we're able to achieve the kind of look and effect that the photographer wants!

Or rather, I'm so proud of Mr. Keir cos he ain't the kind who enjoys taking photo but he's been such a good sport yesterday even a friend of ours was surprised by his Fun side! hehez..

Okz dokiez, I'm sure most of you just can't wait to take a look at the pictures...well we didn't manage to take plenty of candid shots as we've been kept quite busy.

Thankfully a very uber good friend a.k.a. Da Jie agreed to come over in the afternoon to help drive us around for our outdoor. Help us save a lot of time as she can easily drop us at the venue we want to shoot instead of having to find a car park lot at each venue.
and that also means she can't help take candid shots for us during our outdoor shooting too..

So the day started early with us having a hearty breakie at 7 plus in the morning...

our hearty breakie..hehz...

and so we managed to reach our bridal studio about on time at 9:10am (supposed to reach at about 9am)..

as you can spot in the pic, that's me carrying a mega My Melody bag with all our barangs inside. Actually there's another bag Mr. Keir's carrying. We're considered one of the couples with lesser baggage liaoz...

ok that's a super unglam shot of me..haha.
But I must say, our make-up artist, Shirley is really pretty good. I love the eye make-up she does and she's really so serious in doing a good job that she keep experimenting different ways of putting the lashes to see which gives the Largest Eye effect!
She's also so nice that she even went next door to try to borrow suspenders for one of our styles leh..hehez..

our first outfits! My favourite red gown! ok i'm too lazy to photoshop any of the pics, so yea don't get too disgusted with my mega arms!

Actually i love most of the indoor hair styles. Just find it a pity the outdoor's hairstyle ain't too flattering. Cos it's a rainy and windy day, so in order not to mess up the hair, Shirley tried to have most of it pinned up. But i'm quite round ma so when most hair's all pinned up, i look rounder loh...

Well like Mr. Keir has preached to me, just take everything with an open mind and enjoy ourselves!
With this mindset, it didn't spoil my mood at all, in fact i'd thought not a bad thing too! cos i don't look as good = fatter outdoor pics = lesser photos to choose = not having to worry about topping up a bomb when it comes to selection of photos!

that's Mr. Keir with the feather duster..haha & me fully accessorized and ready for the shoot!

the Pajamas - Tigress Themed shoot! This was actually my favourite style loh. Can't wait to see how the photos will turn out like hehz.
Really glad that our photographer, Chris did his best and gave us tons of idea for this too!
Though both him and Shirley were a little surprised that there's actually a bride who wants to make herself look so unglam ahaha.
I was supposed to mimic "Bao Zhu Po" but i forgot about the bedroom slippers..Grrrrrr....

Like i say, i love most of the hair-dos shirley has done. Including this mini-bird cage veil...
It's a pity we're quite pressed for time as in once i'm done, it's off to shoot already so hardly have time to take pics. Realised that i only managed to capture a handful of shots & it's without the full gown!

Mr. Keir actually fell asleep while waiting in between shots..hehez..i guess that's a norm?
Ok here's the look with the traditional gown & veil.
Love this look too! Shirley made me look so princessy!!
She used extensions for the 2 bunch of curls you see as my hair is not thick enough. It's a pity that i will not be able to have the same style for my Actual day cos it's not advisable to use extensions. Very paiseh if kena pulled then your hair come out. I don't think I wana surprise our guests that way...ahahaa

heng i remembered to take a candid shot of us together hehez. a momento for us for now while waiting for the pro photos to be ready. So it shall be my favourite photo for now..

Here comes the outdoor shots!!

now you know what i meant by less flattering with most of my hair pinned up le hor...
anyway we love this place as it's very vintage!
Special thanks to Da jie for helping to take candid shots too!
Also to Chris who's been pretty chin chai also. If you kena those not so chin chai photographers, they will not allow you to even take photos at a different angle.

As you can see, we're having so much fun!
Mr. Keir was such a good sport and we managed to achieve each style easily.
Initially we thought we're like ok-ok nia till they commented ours is considered really smooth and able to give the photographer the feel easily.

Now i'm starting to worry, even though i look rounder in the outdoor style but then even candid shots look so nice la...shit...our goal is not to Top up money for extra photos at all..How how how??

another scene @ Portsdown road.
and that's our photographer you see in blue at the corner...

Quite pro i must saying, climbing up the tree, got bitten by ants, lying down on a road just to get the best angle.

After Portsdown, we went over to Arab street for more shots. THe building were really colourful there and we managed to capture a few good shots too.

Also with some congratulations from strangers and a caucasian lady who came out to me, gave me a hug and exclaimed that my gown was simply Fabulous..awwwww...

One thing, it's hard to focus with so many eyes staring at you when doing the photoshoot there though.
Didn't managed to get any candid shots cos our Poor Da jie was trying to look for a car park lot whilst we were happily snapping away.

Really appreciate her great help else our day wouldn't have been so smooth.

We finished the shot and got back to the studio by about 6 plus..

Tadah! Both of us still looking fresh & energetic after a full day of photoshoot.
Kinda surprised us too we thought we'll be so groucy and tired after a long day but we had so much fun and were so happy that you can't tell any sign of tiredness right?
