A Unique Wedding Invites Idea

Having done the traditional invites for the relatives, here're the rest of the invites for the modern guests. Yes it's our wedding invitation in form of a movie ticket. As we're doing a Cinematic night , so thought this idea will be perfect. Initially it was just an idea while sharing with a colleague on our wedding theme. Who knows it became an idea came true!! I'm very lucky to have met another bride who had the same theme as us! She shared her ideas and templates with me as well. and so this is another DIY project of our wedding. Also she's introduced a very reasonably priced printer to myself and i've actually tried using this printer for my events for my work. So when it comes to printing these movie tickets with perforation. The price is really reasonable! It costs as much as what our venue is charging us for printing 200 pieces of traditional invites loh. I printed 150 pieces of movie tickets though. Tadah. Look at the perfora...

Traditional Wedding Invite Template

I've spent sometime typing out the traditional wedding invites with Chinese wordings. Gosh i thought it was relatively easy till i get down to doing it in photoshop format. After which i deeply regretted. Could have done it in microsoft word too. Just that photoshop makes the layout easier i guess? Anyway the chinese wordings are so cheem. To make it worse, it's supposed to be in a vertical format, making the layout all the more trickier. But the good thing is, I've completed mine! Ahha..as we only need less than 20 pieces of traditional invites with chinese wordings for the relatives, we've no choice but to DIY. Print, cut and insert it ourselves. Luckily i found this old treasure of mine. = Patterned Scissors! bought it while i was doing scrap booking sometime back and i remember at a steal too! Finally it came into good use. hehz. 2 major advantages of using the scissors. Firstly the inserts look so much nicer. Secondly, cos it's patterned even if...

Engaging a Popular / Recommended Justice of Peace

Well, it can be quite a hassle to ROM outside ROM venue. Firstly you have to contact a Justice of peace of your choice and check with them on their availability before you can E-file over at www.rom.gov.sg Based on ROM's info, there're at least 1,000 justice of peace / solemnizers for you to choose from. But most of us would like to play safe and engage those that has been recommended right? So it's the same, usual few JPs who are among the hot favourite. Now come the challenge, you can't engage them too early - more than 3 months prior to your wedding as they can't confirm their schedule as well and engaging them too late, they're already booked for others ROM.. Grrr..I never know it can be so much of a challenge engaging one of them. Well, actually we were a little late, we can start last month which is 3 months prior to our wedding date but we were too busy Nua-ing & slacking away so by the time we remember, it's like 2 months left to our w...

Selection of our Pre-Wedding Photos

Finally, the photos are ready for selection! Initially Mr. Keir and I were pretty firm on not topping up for any additional photos. We're entitled to 36 poses and 25 pages after all. So we thought these should suffice ain't it. Anyway, nothing new to most of us here that usually the bridal studio will be pushing couples to top up more photos etc and also by saying from an artistic point of view, it's nicer to have a series of photo rather then randomly select photos that doesn't form a story line or something. To be honest, how many people will really appreciate your album from the so-called "Artistic" point of view leh? Anyway we have to agree it's indeed nicer to have photos of similar poses and style on the same facing page else it'd look pretty cluttered. and if we were to stick to the 36 poses, the album looks kind of empty and a bit pathetic like that...not so nice. The good thing is, our coordinator is still pretty ok, he did try to pu...

Furniture for the Master Bedroom

Having left with a mere 3 months to our big day and that we would like to settle the room first before focusing on the rest of the wedding plans, we spent most of the weekends shopping for furniture. After a few rounds of visit to Ikea, the furniture mall, Balestier, Defu Furniture, Courts, Nova furnishing, Brighton, Novena...bla bla bla We finally made some purchases and more or less settled for some other items. Gona go purchase the rest of them this weekend. The Prelude: before we start shopping around for the furniture, i chanced upon the below Victorian set at a reasonable price of $2k plus. Simply gives the Oomph feel! But since our bedroom theme is white and red, this colour will be a tad off. They have it in white colour too just that the wardrobe is way too small as well. So after some consideration, we decided to shelf off this option totally. We kind of decided to have a storage bed instead (as above). Since the bed takes up most space in your room...

Light for our Bedroom

To shop for a suitable light for our red / white themed contemporary bedroom, we went to the infamous Balestier of course! It's like a must go if you're shopping for lights since it's a whole street filled with nothing but lights stores ahaha.. Though disappointing, most of the designs we've seen there across the shops are pretty similar & not much of a difference in price too. I would love to have a chandelier lighting in our room but since we're no longer doing the red and black theme for the room, a chandelier lighting may not be so suitable. Furthermore the ceiling's not high enough to have a nice chandelier light.. and then..we chanced upon the Nova Furniture at Paya Lebar Road, A-Z building. Didn't know they had lights as well. They are also having a moving out clearance sale and so..the deal is on!! Tadah! Light for our bedroom has been decided and fixed. For a mere $150 including installation and removal of the old light. They can...

How to plan the layout of your bedroom

We've been busy shopping around for furniture and ideas for our bedroom so have been neglecting all the blog updates. At the same time, kind of feeling the pressure since it's a mere 3 months to our wedding and other then the room preparations, nothing else has been done or planned yet for our wedding...*oopz* anyway just thought how we planned for the room layout was pretty cute. Haha...being also a virgo, Mr. Keir has been pretty organised and have most things well-planned out..so we had this ingenious idea of drawing out our own "blue print" for the room.. Actually Mr. Keir started it, he drew out a general map of our room and this is his version. a male's version of a map, with ruler, straight lines and precise.. So me decided to have my own detailed version, with close up on the furniture as well as window dimensions Waha...the difference between a male's map and a female's. Ok maybe it's just me..lazy to use ruler la.. ...

Our Master Bedroom Basic Reno

Finally did a mini reno for the master bedroom. We're not looking at a major makeover nor splurging on an ID for the room as it doesn't make economical sense. Moreover we ain't sure how long would we be staying there for...so.. here comes. Not easy getting a contractor willing to do a small job just for the room 1) Removal/ hacking of built in wardrobe 2) polishing and re varnishing of parquet flooring 3) Repainting of the room 4) Painting of 2 room's doors Total Damage: $950 + $80 for bangala to throw de debris away... Kaoz..smelly smelly also $1k loh...haiz......Talk about the high expenses related to wedding matters.. Let's take a look at the Before & After... Big difference right? After paying $1k for this room, it better look different from the original room loh. The workmanship's not too bad actually. There're no signs of damage or residue after the built in wardrobe has been removed. The flooring's the part we felt...

Film Reel Canister for our Cinematic Theme!

Look what I've got! Film reels + canister as additional decor to bring out our Cinematic night! ain't easy to get stuffs like this i supposed and they are the Real Original films! gosh is each huge reel heavy so I have the films cut into smaller pieces and roll as above... Wanted to bring back more of the canisters but they are so huge and bulky i reckon we can make do with just 4 of them right?
