Self Drive Perth Kids Friendly Itinerary Day 1: Singapore to Perth > Review of Crown Plaza Hotel Perth

This is how we spend our Day 1 in Perth and a quick review of Crown Plaza Hotel Perth where we stayed for the first two nights. You may read about our Perth Self Drive Kids Friendly Itinerary Preview here.

Day 1 of our Perth Self Drive Kids Friendly Itinerary ain't much since most of the time was spent travelling. We had a good flight time of 11:30 am hence we managed to have a good breakfast at home before heading to the airport.

@Changi Airport ready for our adventure

We're flying to Perth via Scoot and have upgraded our seats for extra leg space - super worth the investment. This makes our flight really comfortable with the extra leg space available.

Someone really knew how to enjoy...

Ample ample leg space, plenty of space, in fact. Great for me who has to stand up, walk around and stretch frequently due to my slipped disc

Flying on a budget airline with no entertainment provided naturally meant you have to bring Busy Bags to keep the not-so-little-one entertained.
Portable games such as Snakes and Ladders work well for us.

It kept Sticky Bean entertained for a while. Though for the last 2 hours of the flight, we gave up and pass her the tablet in order to keep my sanity and take a quick nap.

We took a taxi from Perth airport to Crown Plaza Hotel and it cost us close to $50 for a short 20 minutes ride.
Checking in at Crown Plaza Hotel Perth was smooth and quick. They gave us a room at the "ground level".

Resting at the hotel lobby whilst mummy settles the check-in

Our room came with a balcony overlooking the beautiful lawn from Langley Park. They only downside was our room was directly above their Gustav Bar / Pub so there ain't much privacy if you're standing at your balcony.

Here's a glance at our room at Crown Plaza Hotel Perth
I initially booked a room with 2 double bed but I've also reserved the kid's tent package hence the hotel was suggesting to switch to a queen bed since we have a tent going in.

overview of the room

The room was spacious even with the kids tent in it. The tent cost AUD50 per set up and comes with breakfast for the child as well.

Sticky Bean was excited with the tent and slept in the tent for two nights

The Balcony

Lovely view of Langley Park. Unfortunately, they had an event running hence the tentages

Sticky Bean is a huge fan of bubble baths so I always make sure to book accommodations with a bathtub whenever we travel.
The bathtub at Crown Plaza Hotel Perth is relatively huge for Asian standards with a separate shower feature.

After settling in and a quick refresh, it's time to head out for dinner. It's a pretty long day for us and we didn't want to travel far, hence explored the streets near to Crown Plaza Hotel Perth.

Lo and behold! It was a pleasant surprise to see Bayswater Car Rental along the street right behind Crown Plaza Hotel Perth. It will be so convenient for us to collect our rental car from Bayswater Car Rental the next morning.

Someone's in the mood to pose for photos

We settled at a Korean Fusion Cuisine place for dinner.

As you may know, the shops in Perth close really early especially on the weekends. Hence we had spent the rest of the evening chilling in our hotel room.

Basically in Perth, our day starts early and ends early.

A pretty sunset view
Getting ready for bed in her tent

Breakfast at Crown Plaza Hotel Perth was pretty decent. It's western style with your typical sausages, eggs, pancakes, bread, salad and fruit.
Good enough for us.

Crown Plaza Hotel Perth is located off the quiet streets of CBD and not exactly at the heart of CBD We enjoy the relatively quiet and serene environment. Parking along the street is free on weekends as well but you can opt for valet parking should you feel unsafe leaving your car along the streets.
It's relatively safe in my opinion and especially when we can view the car from our balcony.
If you're looking for an accommodation near Perth CBD and yet away from the crowd, I will highly recommend Crown Plaza Hotel Perth.

Taiwan Kids friendly Accommodation with slides - not your usual list!

And so from a mere idea of bringing Sticky Bean with us to Taiwan, this idea was put into action with Singapore Airlines 70th Anniversary promotion where you get to pay only $70 for a child's ticket! Though it's not exactly the cheapest option for flying to Taiwan, we thought to pay a little more for better service and not to mention safety since it will be Sticky Bean's first time traveling on a relatively longer flight. Her first plane ride was a really short one to KL, a mere 1 hour away. If she's manageable on the flight, we can then consider budget airlines such as Scoot or even Jetstar for our subsequent travels. So why Taiwan? There are plenty of reasons for our choice other than both Mr. Keir and myself love Taiwan for the food and hospitality. I'm sure you may have come across Awesome kids friendly accommodation with slides and other themed rooms in Taiwan that are trending in facebook. That was one of the many reasons why we want to go Taiwan too!

BTO Keys Collection and BTO Door Opening Ceremony

And so after a long 4 years wait, our BTO is finally ready for keys collection. To be honest we totally forgot about out BTO and was pleasantly surprised to receive an SMS from HDB to inform us of our BTO keys collection date. That was when we frantically tried to hunt for an ID. Ok to cut the story short, here's what happened on the BTO keys collection day as well as what we did for our "BTO Door Opening Ceremony". There really wasn't an official BTO door opening ritual or ceremony in fengshui. I guess this is just a Singapore custom. Though we do not have a religion, in particular, we just did it for an ease of mind. Love the  living room view from our 30th storey BTO view from our Service Yard BTO Key Collection Process at HDB Time took: less than an hour It was a very straightforward and easy process. Here's what you need to prepare, assuming that you are taking the loan from HDB. Identity cards Marriage certificate if you are buying

Our 7 Day 6 Nights Taiwan Child Friendly Itinerary Preview

Here's a preview of our Taiwan Child Friendly Itinerary for our trip to Taiwan earlier this month in May 2017. You can click on the respective days for a detailed post. And so we finally embarked on our journey to Taiwan onboard Singapore Airlines! Thanks to Singapore Airlines 70th Anniversary promo, we decided to splurge a little on the air tickets. The air tickets cost about $1,440 for 2 adults and 1 3.5 yr old. We spent a total of 7 days 6 nights in Taiwan altogether. But in order to make our Taiwan trip more child-friendly, relaxing,  and to cut down on travelling time, we merely visited the North part of Taiwan primarily - Hsinchu, Yilan and Taipei. It's never easy travelling with a young one, hence we should not be too ambitious when it comes to planning your Taiwan Child Friendly itinerary. Good thing is,  Mr  Keir and I have always preferred a chillax itinerary. We're not the type of tourist who loves to jam pack the full day and visit 101 attracti
