Well, like most couple, we've to juggle between getting the love nest ready as well as the wedding preparation.
On a lucky note, we will be staying with Mr. Keir's parents.
Some BTBs would have preferred to have their very own love nest rather than staying with their in-laws.
I totally understand that, there's always the pros and cons.
For a start we will just be decorating the master bedroom as our love nest. To renovate a whole apartment you probably need at least $15k and above. Imagine how much we would have saved by 'renovating' just the master bedroom into our 'dream love nest'
After all, we usually spend most of our time in the bedroom. Hee..
Anyway I've been surfing online for tons and tons of bedroom themes and ideas.
Gosh..information overload and there's just so many theme that I like! (being the blessed soon-to-be-Mrs.Keir, Mr. Keir actually gave me full control over the room's theme)
Just to share with you on some of the themes i've shortlisted. these were just a few of my collection...honestly i know i'm supposed to credit the source but i've compiled so many images over a long period of time, i can't really remember the exact source. So i'm just gona credit the images as: image source from http://www.google.com.sg/ images.
So first of all, there is the Japanese - Zen Style. Simplistic is the key and i love those that are red and black themed.
Red especially spells rommance and sensuality. Ideal for a bedroom.

Since for us, it wasn't really a choice also, I just need to think of the pros only and be contented. In this way, we can reduce the likely friction that is likely to occur during this preparation too.
Honestly I do not mind staying with the in-laws, talking about the savings we gona have as compared to buying a love nest of our own. This is more than enough, let alone for the fact that there is someone else taking care of all household chores for us *giggles*
What's more beautiful than having brunch ready the moment we wake up on a weekend morning all thanks to my future MIL. =)
We are also lucky in a way that Mr. Keir is staying in a "jumbo" flat. That is two 3 room flats combined into one.
We merely had a corridor connecting the 2 units so in a way we still have our privacy. For a start we will just be decorating the master bedroom as our love nest. And the fact that both Mr. Keir and myself love platform beds so this is gona be another bonus for the Japanese Zen style.
I Love red themed bedrooms...
Next will be my favourite colour! A Sweet pink princessy looking room. Of the following, I love the bottom right design the most. But just afraid that Mr. Keir may get a pink overdose sooner or later, after a prolong stay in this kind of room. haha
Next in line comes the country style with a tinge of victorian flavour in it as well.
Simple, and yet sweet with the florals design.
The downside of this design is that most of the furnitures will be white based. I've this phobia of white stuffs, turning that it will turn yellow very fast if we did not take good care of it.
I'm definitely not the conscientious kind who will take good care of the furnitures and clean them...
Next come the miscellanous categories, there's the simplistic playing with just lavendar colour. - upon my research i noticed that lavendar colour goes with almost anything! you can pair it with black, white, pink..in fact most of the basic colours.
Of cos for the bottom 2 - my favourite red and black combination. I love how the red brightens up the room with the right combination of white based furnitures and wall mural stickers.
These days it's so simple and cost efficient to get wall mural stickers! I've already found a couple on gmarket. http://www.gmarket.com.sg/ in a very afforable pricing.
Of cos if you have the budget to engage an Interior designer, there's probably less to worry about. As this room may not be permanent for us, we do not intend to invest that much in it.
So surfing online provided plenty of ideas. I do recommend all of you to make full use of my good friend - google.
Just google for bedroom themes, take a look at the designs, see which of it caught your fancy and observe what kind of colour themes are being used. What was it that made the room look really different and give you the "oomph" factor.
some of my 2 cents worth of observation
1) we can use a bright or outstanding colour on just 1 of the walls instead of painting all 4 walls to bring out that brightness or contrast in the room. For example since i love red or pink, painting the whole room red or pink will be too overdone and may backfire instead. Or if you love dark colours but afraid that it'll make the room appear too small, you can paint 3 walls black and one with a contrasting colour such as red. the whole effect will look so different.
2) to make the room appear spacious especially for constrained rooms, 1 of the favourite method is to put mirrors on the wall of the headerboard where your bed lies against. this instantly made the room appeared bigger and of cos, very sensual for couples too! (if you know what i mean...)
3) another key feature in tuning the ambience of the room will be the lights! noticed from some of the images above, how the chandelier lights brings out the 'oomph' or 'romantic' feel in the red and black contrast room?
4) easy, simple diy decors. make full use of wall mural stickers! they are easy to change and absoulutely affordable! that being said, i've to try the ones i've purchased on gmarket to test out the quality first. that is, easily removable without damaging the paint on the wall. shall keep you guys updated.
Oh just to share, i've coincidentally found some online furniture shop selling bed frames, bedroom sets at a very affordable price! some bedroom sets from as low as a few hundred bucks!
THe downside to this is, you may not be able to feel or test the quality of the product since they do not have a show room.
Here are some of the sites for your kind reference.
If i ever purchase anything from any of these sites, i shall share my feedback here too..
2) http://www.beds.sg/ i love how honest this site is. they are clearing platform bed + mattress at a mere $299 and they did provide reasons for their clearance product and is honest enough to mention that the quality of the clearance sets did not meet up to their quality expectation and recommend purchase if it's for rental etc.
3) http://www.wholesaleclassicfurniture.com/ for this they have a showroom at ubi and carries tons of lovely french, victorian styled furniture.
that's all for now
