The default 4 room BTO from HDB

And so we've begun the journey to build our dream home.

Let's take a look at the original HDB BTO we got:

Model: 4 room BTO
opt-ins: doors and sanitary fittings - which we deeply regretted
flooring - none.
Style wanted: Muji style
Area: Mature estate

I was still worried if the block in front of us would have blocked our view but that worry was cast aside the moment we entered our BTO. Simply love the view from our 30th-floor unit.

Would love to get a 5 room unit since it will be a lot more spacious but it's a pity that HDB does not launch 5 room units in mature estates for some reasons so we have to settle for our 4 room BTO in exchange for the convenience of the location.

In love with the view from our 30th-floor unit - view from the living room

Living room  - really dislike the black framed windows

Our 4 room BTO comes with the L shaped living room, meaning you there will be limited interaction between those who are in the living room vs dining vs kitchen.

Kitchen - open concept
The service yard door, windows and wall must go!

Why oh why did we opt in for the ugly sanitary? We will be removing the ugly wash basin and replace them with a storage one instead.
Shower fittings in master bedroom toilet

Cos we paid for this sanitary as well, if not I would have gone for a rain shower.

Service yard - can't stand these two mega-sized pipes!

Can't wait to see how our place transforms to our Muji Inspired HDB BTO. Stay tuned.

BTO Keys Collection and BTO Door Opening Ceremony

And so after a long 4 years wait, our BTO is finally ready for keys collection. To be honest we totally forgot about out BTO and was pleasantly surprised to receive an SMS from HDB to inform us of our BTO keys collection date. That was when we frantically tried to hunt for an ID. Ok to cut the story short, here's what happened on the BTO keys collection day as well as what we did for our "BTO Door Opening Ceremony". There really wasn't an official BTO door opening ritual or ceremony in fengshui. I guess this is just a Singapore custom. Though we do not have a religion, in particular, we just did it for an ease of mind. Love the  living room view from our 30th storey BTO view from our Service Yard BTO Key Collection Process at HDB Time took: less than an hour It was a very straightforward and easy process. Here's what you need to prepare, assuming that you are taking the loan from HDB. Identity cards Marriage certificate if you are buying

Taiwan Kids friendly Accommodation with slides - not your usual list!

And so from a mere idea of bringing Sticky Bean with us to Taiwan, this idea was put into action with Singapore Airlines 70th Anniversary promotion where you get to pay only $70 for a child's ticket! Though it's not exactly the cheapest option for flying to Taiwan, we thought to pay a little more for better service and not to mention safety since it will be Sticky Bean's first time traveling on a relatively longer flight. Her first plane ride was a really short one to KL, a mere 1 hour away. If she's manageable on the flight, we can then consider budget airlines such as Scoot or even Jetstar for our subsequent travels. So why Taiwan? There are plenty of reasons for our choice other than both Mr. Keir and myself love Taiwan for the food and hospitality. I'm sure you may have come across Awesome kids friendly accommodation with slides and other themed rooms in Taiwan that are trending in facebook. That was one of the many reasons why we want to go Taiwan too!

Our 7 Day 6 Nights Taiwan Child Friendly Itinerary Preview

Here's a preview of our Taiwan Child Friendly Itinerary for our trip to Taiwan earlier this month in May 2017. You can click on the respective days for a detailed post. And so we finally embarked on our journey to Taiwan onboard Singapore Airlines! Thanks to Singapore Airlines 70th Anniversary promo, we decided to splurge a little on the air tickets. The air tickets cost about $1,440 for 2 adults and 1 3.5 yr old. We spent a total of 7 days 6 nights in Taiwan altogether. But in order to make our Taiwan trip more child-friendly, relaxing,  and to cut down on travelling time, we merely visited the North part of Taiwan primarily - Hsinchu, Yilan and Taipei. It's never easy travelling with a young one, hence we should not be too ambitious when it comes to planning your Taiwan Child Friendly itinerary. Good thing is,  Mr  Keir and I have always preferred a chillax itinerary. We're not the type of tourist who loves to jam pack the full day and visit 101 attracti
