Our Muji Home Reno Journey | Let's warm our feet with Vinyl Flooring

The type of flooring you choose is definitely the most important decision you're required to make with regards to your home renovation.
Do you know that the flooring is really the biggest piece of furniture in your entire house?

There are just so many types of flooring these days so do your research in advance. Ask the people around you for their experience with the various type of flooring.

It's a good thing that the porcelain flooring that came with our BTO optional scheme was too off-white for our liking so we did not opt in for the flooring, unlike our regretful decision to opt-in for sanitary fittings and the doors.

Imagine the challenge we would have to have a porcelain flooring to go with our Muji style home. How is that even possible?

As with the obvious Muji style, the flooring has to have the warm wood accent to it. But that doesn't mean that we can only use wood as our flooring. We have a few options to choose, real wood flooring, vinyl or laminate flooring.

We chose vinyl as we like that it does absorb impact as well and the designs to choose from, oh so pretty.
Another challenge is to pick the right shade of vinyl to suit our Muji home. The flooring can look so different when you're looking at one sample piece versus having an entire room or house filled with that flooring.

Look at the options above, they look same same but different don't they? Now get what I meant?

Thanks to Dave, D5 Studio Image, recommendation, we agreed on the same warm maple wood coloured vinyl flooring and to date, we've been receiving compliments for our flooring.

The floors were covered with dust in the most the photos above. Stay tuned for images of our complete house to see how our perfect vinyl floor complements our Muji home entirely.

BTO Keys Collection and BTO Door Opening Ceremony

And so after a long 4 years wait, our BTO is finally ready for keys collection. To be honest we totally forgot about out BTO and was pleasantly surprised to receive an SMS from HDB to inform us of our BTO keys collection date. That was when we frantically tried to hunt for an ID. Ok to cut the story short, here's what happened on the BTO keys collection day as well as what we did for our "BTO Door Opening Ceremony". There really wasn't an official BTO door opening ritual or ceremony in fengshui. I guess this is just a Singapore custom. Though we do not have a religion, in particular, we just did it for an ease of mind. Love the  living room view from our 30th storey BTO view from our Service Yard BTO Key Collection Process at HDB Time took: less than an hour It was a very straightforward and easy process. Here's what you need to prepare, assuming that you are taking the loan from HDB. Identity cards Marriage certificate if you are buying

Taiwan Kids friendly Accommodation with slides - not your usual list!

And so from a mere idea of bringing Sticky Bean with us to Taiwan, this idea was put into action with Singapore Airlines 70th Anniversary promotion where you get to pay only $70 for a child's ticket! Though it's not exactly the cheapest option for flying to Taiwan, we thought to pay a little more for better service and not to mention safety since it will be Sticky Bean's first time traveling on a relatively longer flight. Her first plane ride was a really short one to KL, a mere 1 hour away. If she's manageable on the flight, we can then consider budget airlines such as Scoot or even Jetstar for our subsequent travels. So why Taiwan? There are plenty of reasons for our choice other than both Mr. Keir and myself love Taiwan for the food and hospitality. I'm sure you may have come across Awesome kids friendly accommodation with slides and other themed rooms in Taiwan that are trending in facebook. That was one of the many reasons why we want to go Taiwan too!

Our 7 Day 6 Nights Taiwan Child Friendly Itinerary Preview

Here's a preview of our Taiwan Child Friendly Itinerary for our trip to Taiwan earlier this month in May 2017. You can click on the respective days for a detailed post. And so we finally embarked on our journey to Taiwan onboard Singapore Airlines! Thanks to Singapore Airlines 70th Anniversary promo, we decided to splurge a little on the air tickets. The air tickets cost about $1,440 for 2 adults and 1 3.5 yr old. We spent a total of 7 days 6 nights in Taiwan altogether. But in order to make our Taiwan trip more child-friendly, relaxing,  and to cut down on travelling time, we merely visited the North part of Taiwan primarily - Hsinchu, Yilan and Taipei. It's never easy travelling with a young one, hence we should not be too ambitious when it comes to planning your Taiwan Child Friendly itinerary. Good thing is,  Mr  Keir and I have always preferred a chillax itinerary. We're not the type of tourist who loves to jam pack the full day and visit 101 attracti
