Our Muji Home Reno Journey | Let there be light

Our lights and 2 Bestar ceiling fans from EG Lighting has arrived and it's time to install them. You may read about our review from EG lighting here.

Honestly, it's been 5 months since we moved in so I may not have remembered details but I do vaguely remember luckily we asked Dave about the timeline for lighting and ceiling fan to be installed way ahead so we have the time to search around for lighting.

Sometimes, Dave may forget to prep us ahead of time and he'll inform us things like oh, next week can install lights already or next week can do aircon trunking first and we'd scramble around to make the necessary purchases.

So luckily for lighting, I've been doing my homework and saving bookmarks and doing comparisons here and there. Even after the purchase, it takes at least a week for EG Lighting to deliver the items as some stocks have to be indented.

We've also labelled the lights so that they know which light to install for which room.
Our lights are finally up! Let's take a look at the daylight view.

And ooh flooring was up a couple of days after light installation too. Starting to feel and look the Muji part.

Hate how our black framed windows spoil the look totally. But nonetheless, the fan looks perfect for our Muji home.

Super love our ceiling fan which blends perfectly in our muji home

Did I mention that all the lights are tri-tone? Love the flexibility to adjust the ambience in accordance to our preference.

Splendid idea from Dave, D5 studio image to paint our doors white in order to complete our Muji look.

And that's it, almost there, our Muji home is starting to look the part and even more so with our flooring up.

BTO Keys Collection and BTO Door Opening Ceremony

And so after a long 4 years wait, our BTO is finally ready for keys collection. To be honest we totally forgot about out BTO and was pleasantly surprised to receive an SMS from HDB to inform us of our BTO keys collection date. That was when we frantically tried to hunt for an ID. Ok to cut the story short, here's what happened on the BTO keys collection day as well as what we did for our "BTO Door Opening Ceremony". There really wasn't an official BTO door opening ritual or ceremony in fengshui. I guess this is just a Singapore custom. Though we do not have a religion, in particular, we just did it for an ease of mind. Love the  living room view from our 30th storey BTO view from our Service Yard BTO Key Collection Process at HDB Time took: less than an hour It was a very straightforward and easy process. Here's what you need to prepare, assuming that you are taking the loan from HDB. Identity cards Marriage certificate if you are buying

Our Muji Home Reno Journey | Electrical works and Aircon Trunking

Before embarking on our Muji Home renovation journey, I never knew that the bulk of the work comes from the electrical wiring and the importance of electrical works. In fact, we totally overlooked that part. How many sockets needed and where to place them. Before we selected our ID, we met one of them onsite and the ID just went on asking us how many sockets and lighting point we need in this room, where we need the socket to be located at ...bla bla bla all of these during our first on-site meeting. Trust us, we never had such a pressurising consultation before. Tips for you A lesson learnt from our experience, perhaps before you even meet your IDs or contractors, spend some time in your BTO and visualise how you want to use the space and place your furniture. For us, we thought we can come to that much later when the renovation is almost complete but boy we are so wrong about that. You should already know how many sockets you need and where you want it to be placed from the be

The Miscarriage: : the Mini Confinement after Miscarriage

When it comes to confinement following a miscarriage, there are 101 versions of old wives tales to confuse you. There're people who say (such as doctors and gynaes), since the pregnancy period is short, less than 3 months, it didn't affect our body much so we actually do not need to do confinement. But my gynae did mention that of course i can try to avoid the cold, icy stuffs still. And then there will be the extreme ones who'd think going through a miscarriage is more damaging to a woman's body than giving birth itself and hence one must observe the rules of confinement and the best is to do it for 2 weeks. But think about this, where on earth to get 2 weeks mc? we are only entitled 14 days mc a year leh... And then there's the reasonable ones and I'm blessed that both my mother and mother-in-law and even my brother's mother-in-law, who runs a chinese medical hall (TCM) belongs to this group. So naturally, i fall into this group as well. According
